Crash reported, but why are backups previous to the last save?

Had a crash of KS10 when I was duplicating a part. No warning, just gone. Poof. Lost about an hour's worht of work, not the worst, but still really frustrating. Restarted KS, got notification that it sensed a crash, submitted everything.

I then went to look at my backups, only to make the realization that the files that are supposed to save me from this, are actually all timestamped previous to the last modified date of the main file! I didn't not understand this before. Som, the only point of the "retain so many backups" option in the preferences is to protect against the main file becoming corrupt? I've never had that happen, but I have lot plenty of work from KS crashing.

My thought is that KS would need some sort of proactive autosave, not just a reminder, not just a file backup, but an active save in the background sort of thing. Something similar to what Cinema 4D does, which everytime the autosave kicks in it actually saves a new file and versions the previous one. But its proactive. Or, just save all the time. I realize this is a coding and priority nightmare, but when C4D crashes (and it does a lot) I get less and less mad about it interrupting my work for 10 seconds while it autosaves.

Hello Matt,

Thank you for contacting Luxion .
I am sorry to hear this. While you are able to create backup revisions and there is a 'save reminder' icon, you are correct. There is no autosave feature available on KeyShot.
This has been a much discussed topic and I am forwarding your case to our developers to emphasize the importance of such a feature.

If we are to add an autosave function to the platform, it will be in a later version of KeyShot.

Thank you for your feedback and again I am sorry for the frustration this has caused you.
I hope to have news for you on this feature a future release.
