There are times when you just are not able to properly connect to the Floating License server, even if it worked just a day before. This can occur for a variety of reasons.

Below you will find a list of common issues and ways to solve them to regain access to your license server.

Incorrect server information

One common error is that the incorrect information is being entered in the Registry Wizard.

When first launching KeyShot, in the Registry Wizard select the 'floating license' option and press 'next'.

From here, you will be directed please enter some information to identify your Floating License Server.

Please enter one of the following*:

  • Designated Port@Server Host Name
  • @Server Host Name
  • Designated Port@Host IP Address
  • @Host IP Address
*Please enter the required information and not the exact text written above.

If you do not know this information, please contact your IT Administrator for more details.

Invalid version of KeyShot

Your Floating License Server may have been updated overnight and the version of KeyShot you currently have installed may no longer be compatible. In this case you should receive an error message stating that you need to upgrade.

You can download the latest client version of KeyShot for free at https://www.keyshot.com/resources/downloads/.

Older versions of KeyShot can be found at https://www.keyshot.com/resources/downloads/previous-versions/.

Other issues

If you are still unable to connect, the Floating License server may either be offline or experiencing connectivity issues.
Please send copies of the Luxion.log files from the connecting computer and the Floating License Server to support@luxion.com.

On the computer experiencing this issue, if using a WindowsOS you can find the Luxion.log file under:
  • %LocalAppData%\Luxion\KeyShot
  • C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Luxion\KeyShot

  • C:\ProgramData\Luxion\KeyShot
On Mac:
  • /Users/<Username>/Library/Application Support/Luxion/KeyShot
  • ~/Library/Application Support/Luxion/KeyShot

On the Luxion License Server you can find the Luxion.log file in the License Folder and in the LMTools app under the 'Config Services' tab.
